Hosts Denny & Cheryl invite you to “turn back” the “Paiges
of Thyme” and enjoy a relaxing respite at their lovingly restored,
turn-of-the-century, bed & breakfast.
Paiges of Thyme is located in Clarinda, Iowa, a friendly
“hometown” community of approximately 6000 residents. The county seat of Page
County, Clarinda is proud of its recently restored County
Courthouse located in
the center of it’s historic downtown district. Clarinda was founded in 1853 in
the gently rolling hills of Southwestern Iowa and also offers the
Nodaway Valley
Historical Museum,
Goldenrod School Museum,
Glenn Miller birthplace home. For
recreation Clarinda offers lovely parks,
restaurants and the “Lied Center” which is a fully
equipped recreational center with large indoor pool. Other opportunities
include the Clarinda Country Club with a 18-hole golf course, the Wabash Trace
for hiking and bicycling located 16 miles west of Clarinda.
Built in 1902, Paiges of Thyme is a creative adaptation of
the basic four-square home. Its lot borders
Clarinda’s celebrated “Promenade,” a
series of lighted boulevards that encircle the originally platted “public
square” area and are enjoyed by local residents for strolling and jogging.
Nestled in a landscape of sheltering trees
and cheerful flower beds, “Paiges of
Thyme’s” pastel yellow exterior with white gingerbread trim is a welcoming
sight. Upon entering you will be charmed by the special features of this
lovely older home. The spacious living/dining room area has a beautiful
oak fireplace complete with ornate mantel. Original oak trim, brass light
fixtures and hardwood floors grace many of the home’s rooms. Thoughtfully
selected furniture and antiques combine to give “Paiges of Thyme” an atmosphere
of old-fashioned comfort and elegance. For a special treat, reminisce
about a simpler way of life as you relax on the front porch or for more privacy
enjoy the screened-in porch at the back of the house overlooking gardens and a
large fountain.
