We have 3 guest rooms. Our newest room is a first floor bedroom with private bath. "Grandpa's Getaway" has a queen bed; the oak bedroom suite was acquired by my parents just prior to their wedding in 1930. This quiet and serene room has a handmade quilt, eyelet appointments, and toys and keepsakes are displayed which grandpa has collected from his earlier years. This room is a favorite of wedding couples.

Grandmother's Room; Home made dolls, a sleigh, a birdhouse, high button shoes, a hat, a teapot, cup and saucer, antique linens, hand made quilts, eyelet enhanced bedding, an antique walnut wardrobe and grandmother's dress hanging behind the door. This room is a tribute to the grandmothers in our family.

The Four-Seasons Room has the modified four-poster bed in which I was born, matching dresser and chest of drawers, restored antique rockers from my grandparents, another hand-made quilt with matching hand-tailored room accessories, battenburg lace linens, several hand painted saws and articles pertaining to the Four Seasons.

All rooms have smoke alarms, ceiling fans, T.V. and locks on the doors. T.V.'s and door locks are very seldom used. To our astonishment, quite often the doors are left wide open and many guests have made up their own beds before leaving their room. It is my desire to make the beds for them, however. Jim has remarked, " you know people feel right at home when they come down the stairs in their bare feet."

There are fire ladders stored under each bed (heaven forbid they will ever be used). All guests find a "hug and a kiss," which is a foil Hershey hug and kiss in the form of a rose bud, placed on a crystal tray in their room.

There is a shared bath between Grandmother's Room and the Four-Seasons Room. This seems to work quite well. The guests are free to use the majority of the main floor for their enjoyment. Reading, playing the piano, the chessboard is a ready item and the game table is a busy place for dominoes or ten penny. Many guests take a stroll on the property, sometimes up and down the roads, often admiring a sunrise or sunset, or any time in between. The lawn swing and lawn chairs and picnic table are in use a lot. It's peaceful out here. A beautiful view of the bountiful croplands surrounds us.

We had a nice and quiet week, good breakfasts and lots of sleep.  Thank you for having us.  ~ Sam and Rodney
