blocks is the Old Fort Madison, with its permanent
Smithsonian exhibit. The Old Fort Madison, established in
1808, is an accurate reconstruction of the first military

The river supports a diverse array open-water and floodplain habitats, including extensive habitats on national wildlife refuges.
The Victoria is located on the Iowa side of the Mississippi River, directly across from historic Nauvoo, Illinois, site of many restored structures built by the Prophet Joseph Smiith, and the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Also, Nauvoo is home of the National Icarian Heritage Society and the Living History Foundation Museum of its founder, professor Dr. Lillian M. Snyder.
