Things to do within 15 minutes of the hotel

Paul’s Buffalo Herd ~ Enjoy the land where the buffalo roam. There are
roughly 100 in the herd as I write this. DO NOT TOUCH them or try to attract
them. They can be dangerous. But you may witness them safely from your car.
Head north on Hoover highway to Massillon and turn right on 122nd Street.
Take the first left after the road curves to the right. The Buffalo are on
the left side of the road.
Grandma and Grandpa’s Dollhouse ~ Hundreds of antique and collectable dolls
fill this beautiful Victorian home. Experience the dollhouse and find
yourself enchanted by the lady who collected them all. (By appointment only)

Koch’s Meadow Lake Campground ~ Children’s fishing, lake swimming, picnic

Lowden Historical Society ~ Have an interest in history? Visit our community
historical society and see where all the pictures in the lobby came from.
Local historians who are decedents of our early settlers have kept history

Lincolnway
Flower Farm ~ Experience the origin of flowers, view creative metal
sculpture, and witness the creative making of floral designs. Jeff and Linda
Licht grow flowers and sell them as far away as Chicago. Jeff, regionally
know for his talent with unique metal sculpture, generally has some on
display. Linda has a reputation for flower design and specializes in
weddings. Observe their lovely gardens on their Century Farm just West of

Sybil’s General Store ~ Purchase organic food items by the pound, have your
coffee ground by an old-fashioned grinder, Buy spices and aromatic oils and
do all this in an ambiance that will take you back to pioneer days. 101 2nd

Two Friends Gift & Flower Shop ~ Cross Herbert Hoover Highway to the West of
the hotel and drop in on two friends with great creative spirit.
Horticulturists, they will arrange flowers for you or you may pick up
something made in Iowa. Their shop specializes in Iowa made products. Stop in at Two Friends and
check out their selection of Iowa candles,

3-30 Golf & Country Club ~ Bring your clubs and enjoy golf at our beautiful
9-hole course developed in the 1960’s. Or bring you suit and take a dip in
the pool. Open from May through October, the course is open to the public

“Day tripping”
All these activities are within 30 minutes of the hotel
Antiquing: Discover antique shops in Lisbon, Mount Vernon, Maquoketa,
and Tipton and scattered in between. The drive to any of these towns can be
made in about 30 minutes. While on the journey you will enjoy the beautiful
rolling hills of rural Eastern Iowa.
Aquatic Center: Head to Tipton if you enjoy swimming, bring the kids
and enjoy water play at the Aquatic Center. Open year round. Phone:

Bicycling: Many bicycle organizations plan bike trips through the area
and you can bring your bike and enjoy the journey from here. The Lincoln
hotel is located at the junction of Herbert Hoover and Old Lincoln Highway,
both historic and scenic byways that serve bikers from all over the country.
Eagle Roost: a lovely 20 minute drive from here the Wapsi River
Environmental Center offers the eagles a place to roost in the evenings from
November through March. Observe the majesty of nature in an environment where
informed naturalists share their knowledge. North of Dixon, Iowa.
Eastern Iowa
Tourism: As you travel one of our Scenic Byways or
Historic Routes you’ll see the beauty of meandering streams, the mighty
Mississippi River, rolling hills, towering limestone bluffs, patchwork
countrysides, unexpected wildlife, and quaint villages.
Eden Valley Refuge: Eden Valley Refuge is situated on 201 acres of
beautiful forested hills and is a wonderful place to commune with nature. The
park has 4 miles of trails, camping, a swinging bridge, and an observation
tower.
Horseback Riding: enjoy riding over 200 acres of wooded timber, meadows and
riverside trails with a friendly guide at Cedar Valley Stables in Tipton.

Hurstville Lime Kilns/Interpretive Center: A very unique historic
site in Maquoketa. The Hurstville Lime Kilns are the only set of 4 lime kilns
still standing. The kilns were used to process lime from lime stone. The lime
kilns were part of a company town that dates back to the late 1880's.
Jackson County Historical
Museum: This local history museum has a country school, antique
agricultural equipment, period rooms, and changing events and displays.
Lost Nation: The
town of Lost Nation is home to Market Place Meats where Neiman Farms natural
and organic pork, poultry and beef products are available for sale. These
organic products are produced in the area and sold in fine markets all over
the country. We serve their ham in all our breakfast dishes. This ham has no
nitrates and was rated number one in the country by Good Morning America. The
market place also features other local products from furniture to organic
vegetables when in season. Outside the doors of the market you will find
several antique and gift shops and old fashioned general store.
Nature Walks: The Eden Valley refuge Center offers a beautiful environment in
which to commune with nature, go spelunking, or take a picnic. 1415 50th

The Maquoketa Caves State Park north of Baldwin and west of Maquoketa
features nature trails through and around a series of caves. This is one of
the best known parks in the area.
The Wapsi River Center offers activities throughout the year from Monarch
tagging to snowshoe making workshops or visitors are welcome to enjoy the
nature trails on their own. Bird watchers will love this park.
Tabor Vineyards and
Winery: Home of award-winning wines, the Tabor winery is the oldest
vineyard in the state. One of their featured wines was served at Governor

Voy Outdoor Theatre:
Enjoy an old-fashioned “drive in” theatre on the outskirts on Highway 64
south of Maquoketa. The theater is one of the few still operating in the
