Halderwood Farms is a Century farm
with Lee being the third generation to own the farm which was
homesteaded by his Halder grandparents in 1885. Our business
started by accident and has grown into a restaurant, a banquet
facility, a dance hall, and a bed and breakfast. We started by
having a restaurant in our home and then remodeling our barn,
built in 1906, to have it become a restaurant and a dance hall.
The move of our business across the yard to the barn came by
necessity as our business out grew our home. The bed and
breakfast came about because of our wedding reception business and
business meetings and the need for overnight accommodations for
our guests. We started with three bedrooms, each with its own
bathroom, and expanded to the fourth which is a suite complete
with a whirlpool tub. We have two large porches for our guests to
enjoy on the bed and breakfast in addition to a 60 foot porch on
the barn.
We are located on a farm in rural
Pocahontas County in the middle of four towns. It is peaceful and
serene here on our farm. We have just completed a large native
wildflower and native grass area with two large ponds. The ponds
will be filled soon and we hope to attract many water fowl to our
farm. We have many acres available for hunting pheasants and
deer.
We have additional meals available for
our guests always honoring any special dietary needs. We are open
most of the year and would love to have you as our guests at
