Badminton, Croquet, and Horseshoes.
Our Tara Inn located between the rural communities of Lansing and
Waukon is in the heart of Iowa's own "Little Switzerland". The Inn
housed inside the barn, built in 1896, is a unique Bed & Breakfast.
Guestroom design features the original Post and Beam construction of
the barn.
Our Tara Inn is a refuge from modern stresses where guests become
family. You may relax on the deck and enjoy the view of three
states, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, or you may unwind with a
walk in the woods. If you choose to just lay about and "veg",
satellite TV provides Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, and HBO. Sportsman
enjoy the nearby trout streams as well as the Mississippi River. For
winter guests, we are in close proximity to a snowmobile trail. In
fall, the colors of the changing foliage are magnificent against the
limestone bluffs.
A full hot "Country Breakfast" is offered in the "Old Granary"
Lobby. Weather permitting guests may choose to have breakfast on the
Gazebo. Imagine a view of three states while you enjoy a breakfast
of Farm Fresh Scrambled Eggs, Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, Belgium
Waffles, and Country Sausages.
Our Inn has two suites: The Royal Suite features a
private bedroom with Queen bed, large living room doubles as a
sleeping area with two Queen sofa sleepers. A full kitchen stocked
with necessary food prep and dining utensils. Fireplace, Private
deck entrance, full bath, and laundry facilities make this perfect
for a large family group. The Lodge features three Queen beds
in a two-room suite with a full bath. Tastefully decorated with the
Woodsman in mind, it is a comfortable room for any group.
Our Tara Inn has three rooms: The Shangri-La with King Bed
and Jet-tub is the perfect choice for a Romantic Retreat or just to
pamper yourself. The Runaway Lovers Loft decorated with
lantern fixtures and Wrought Iron Queen bed reminds you of our
famous couples visit here. The Fur-Traders Loft with warm red
and gold tones reminiscent of the Hudson Bay Era features two double
beds.
